Highlights of 2025
January
There's a certain uplifting brilliance to NAMM, an event widely considered to be the world's most influential audio industry gathering. Thanks to all who came to experience Genelec monitoring solutions – which powered a host of intriguing presentations and performances. What a great way to start the year!
NAMM is always tied in with the highly coveted TEC Awards, which honour the finest innovations in audio technology. Proudly, our 9320A SAM™ Reference Controller was named this year's winner of the Production Essentials category. If you're not familiar with the 9320A, be sure to find out more about how it works with our UNIO Ecosystem to help audio professionals create a seamless bridge between headphone and loudspeaker monitoring.
We offered more good vibes in January with the release of a new One on One interview, this time with distinguished Musician, Mixer and Producer Andreas Dahlbäck. His deeply personal studio space and immense passion for audio shine just as bright as his unique lamp collection.
February
At Genelec, we take pride in innovation, working tirelessly to drive audio reproduction forward. In AV, loudspeakers often play a discreet role – mostly away from the spotlight – yet a huge amount of work can go into making audio systems functional and attractive. To help with this, we developed Smart IP PoE loudspeaker systems, which are exceptionally easy to install, aesthetically beautiful, and built to deliver truly premium sound. In light of this, we were incredibly honoured that Smart IP was recognised this year with Japan's prestigious Good Design Award.

Thanks to our Premium Presentation book, released this February, you can find a wealth of great example of how Genelec Installed Sound solutions have been utilised across the globe to support luxurious atmospheres and engaging experiences.
At the ISE conference in Barcelona, many of you got a first-hand feel of how Smart IP can also ease the creation of immersive audio systems in AV, offering stunning opportunities to deliver the most captivating of installations.

During the same month, we took you to Berlin to see how MAAP Lab – a high-end shop built on passionate bicycling culture – utilises their Smart IP loudspeaker system to create the perfect in-store energy.
March
Proudly, Genelec brought a diverse and exciting programme of immersive audio demonstrations and workshops to Mexico's capital for the Pan American Audio Educators Conference organised by AES Former President John Krivit. Thanks to who attended and to the special guests who helped make our immersive room such a vibrant experience.

April
We've always believed our The Ones monitors are perfect for expressing yourself through audio, yet we wanted to take things a step further. That's why, in April, we gave you the power to make 'The Ones' for you with a choice of 120 beautiful custom colours.
If films are a big part of who you are, you'll likely appreciate the love and care that's gone into building independent Finnish cinema Kino Piispanristi, with its ear-pleasing Genelec 'The Ones' 7.1 system. Watch our short video and get right inside the cinema's intimate auditorium while Manager Janne Haapaniemi tells its back story.
Adding to our expanding collection of drivers for easy integration of Smart IP systems with third-party house automation, April saw Genelec release the new Q-SYS plug-in – created in collaboration with Audiovision AB. This makes it simpler than ever to combine the power of Q-SYS control systems with the convenience of Smart IP installations.
May
It was a great pleasure to return to High End Munich in Germany after a break of six years – which was first initiated by the Covid pandemic. At this vibrant event for audio enthusiasts, we so enjoy our chats with attendees, who truly have an immense passion for sound.

Smart IP once again took AV into the immersive realm – this time at InfoComm China – where our 'Let Sound Become the Poetry of Space' collection of guest artist installations captivated attendees.
Over in Warsaw, Poland, the Audio Engineering Society (AES) convened to ignite fruitful discussion about immersive audio – and to offer professionals a wealth of opportunities to learn more about their craft. Genelec's Thomas Lund was on hand to lend his expertise and to write a short wrap-up for us.
As a way to promote the world's beautiful diversity of music and instruments – and as a treat for music lovers everywhere – we launched the first series of our Uncovering Music IDs video podcast in May. Hosted by internationally recognised musician Mehrnoosh Zolfaghari and made in collaboration with Finland’s prestigious Sibelius Academy, each episode gives you the opportunity to get to know the unique story and sound of talented artist.

Produce Like a Pro – an online series enjoyed by an adoring global audience – paid us a visit in Finland to film a nearly-two-hour feature. Iconic host and celebrated Audio Engineer & Producer Warren Huart toured our Iisalmi Factory and spoke with Genelec’s team to explore our rich history of precision, quality and innovation. We hope you’ll enjoy this rare in-depth behind-the-scenes look at where our loudspeakers are all carefully crafted.
Strengthening Genelec in the UK, we proudly appointed Perry Swain as Regional Business Development Manager, who brought with him years of experience of our audio reproduction solutions. Have you spotted him on the road yet?

June
We feel it's important to recognise and promote the work of our esteemed partners. This year, we honoured three partners with Genelec AV Awards – earned in light of their exceptional Genelec Installed Sound installations. A very sincere well done, once again, to LEM Studios for 'Marvel: Earth's Mightiest Exhibition', Appletify for 'Villa Heftye Bistro', and Informationsteknik Scandinavia AB for 'Queen Silvia Concert Hall'.
The Queen Silvia Concert Hall impressed even further at the MONDO-DR Awards, where the installation won the 'Best Concert Hall' accolade.

Genelec Installed Sound took centre stage again as we headed to InfoComm in Florida, USA, where we showcased Smart IP's flexible range of on-wall, in-ceiling and hanging pendant loudspeakers – and subwoofer – which all receive power, audio and management via a single CAT cable. Thanks to all who visited us there!
July
To shine a light on just a few of the incredible audio professionals creating spectacular music in China, we released our 'Genelec China Creators: Stories Behind the Tracks' series of interview videos. If you love music and getting deep into what inspired it, be sure to check the series out!

To help audio professionals everywhere, we updated our Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) calibration and control software for SAM™ systems to version 5.2. As always, we supported the release with a free webinar full of information about the update, explanations about using it and tips for getting the best results.
August
The AES Latin American Conference in Mexico gathered many of the region's finest audio engineers, and it was the Genelec immersive room at the iconic Estudios Churubusco that became the key stage for inspiration. Guests included Darío Peñaloza, Christopher Manhey, Luis Soria, Julio Monroy, Raúl Oropeza from Televisa, Raúl Bustos, and Carlos Rodgarman, who all shared standout projects and delivered unforgettable listening sessions. Thanks to all who joined – we’re already looking forward to next year in Peru!

For those who like to venture deep into recorded sound – and the fascinatingly diverse ways it is captured – our collaboration with celebrated sound artist Thomas Rex Beverly is a very special treat. Thomas tells his story and takes you within and atop an ancient redwood forest, where he demonstrates creative methods for recording what the human ear has likely never heard before.
Further easing the use of Genelec Installed Sound solutions, August saw Tyba update the functionality of their popular Turn 2 control interface to include tight integration with Smart IP PoE loudspeaker systems.
September
Joining forces with our colleagues at Mareksound and Konto Acoustics, we delivered an inviting home listening experience at this year’s Habitare, Finland’s largest event for furniture, design and interior decor. Thanks to everyone who joined us and spent time enjoying our loudspeaker systems. See you again next year!

In the Finnish city of Espoo, AES assembled again – this time to discuss current and future developments in headphone listening. With the recent launch of our UNIO Personal Reference Monitoring (PRM) system, we introduced a way to achieve new, extremely high levels of accuracy and consistency when using a combination of headphone and loudspeaker monitoring. So, we were absolutely delighted to have PRM feature at the event, where it was available to audition.
Further expanding our UNIO Ecosystem – designed to make bridging headphone and loudspeaker monitoring as easy and effective as possible – we launched a very special main monitor in September. The 8380A SAM™ Main Monitor combines high SPL, full-range playback with advanced coaxial driver technology – allowing it to offer truly immaculate imaging and detail over a wide sweet spot.
We also took you to Bangalore in our video showcasing the local Genelec Experience Centre run by our esteemed partner The Audio Video People.
October
The 8380A had a fine public debut at this year's Beatcon in Berlin, Germany, where the main monitor's full-range power and detail shone – wowing hip-hop professionals and fans alike. Warm gratitude to all who came for the experience – and to all who have joined our 8380A World Tour since!

If you're familiar with popular NPR series 'Tiny Desk Concerts', then you already know the work of renowned Music Producer Josh Rogosin. We were delighted to collaborate with him on his Global Sound Concerts project, bringing you a great chance to experience talented Finnish artists performing in unconventional, special locations.

Continuing the rise in third-party support for our Smart IP series of PoE loudspeakers and subwoofers, NETGEAR added a pre-programmed Smart IP profile to its line of Pro AV Managed Switches – enabling convenient, streamlined integration.
Smart IP systems are about both easy installation and premium-audio-quality experiences – helping to create the engagement venues desire. In October, our Portlantis case study looked at how the Dutch exhibition centre utilises Smart IP across three floors to take visitors right inside their vivid storytelling.
November
Genelec China co-organised one of the events of the year, as the Beijing Film Academy School of Sound and Graduate School hosted the fourth edition of their popular Sound Forum. The week-long programme – which also assembled AES members – starred GRAMMY-winning Immersive Engineer Morten Lindberg, who shared his renowned expertise over five days of valuable workshops. A very sincere thanks to the more-than-300 audio professionals, educators and students that joined in!

Among its busy programme, the 8380A World Tour rolled into Japan for Inter BEE 2025. With the new main monitor standing as a centrepiece, Genelec Japan offered attendees a relaxed hands-on experience of our audio reproduction solutions and their expert support.

The 8380A also revisited Germany, joining our The Ones monitors to power incredible immersive experiences for attendees at Tonnmeistertagung.
In another proud moment for us, New York's Brooklyn Museum supported their magnificent Monet showcase with a Genelec 4.1.4 Dolby Atmos installation – creating a truly awe-inspiring atmosphere for visitors.
December
Because every room and audio monitoring application is different, it's good to know the best practice for optimising your setup – from monitor placement and calibration to acoustic treatment. Getting these things right will help to ensure you can fully trust your monitoring, so you can confidently create mixes that translate to other systems. To help you with this, we delivered a major update to our well-known Monitor Setup Guide – so be sure to download a copy!

In December, we introduced you to a place where great mixes are appreciated daily, Miru NYC, a premium restaurant bringing Japanese audiophile culture to New York. What music would you request to complement such exquisite cuisine?

Rounding off the year, we were delighted to report how Smart IP loudspeakers are helping to spread Christmas cheer as visitors from across the globe enjoy Tonttula Elves Village in Finnish Lapland. There, Santa's Visitor Centre is filled with beautiful, crystal-clear immersive soundscapes designed to whisk you away into the dream of a winter wonderland.

From all at Genelec, we wish you a very happy, peaceful and creative 2026! And we hope to see you out on the road – where we'll treat you to a stunning listening experience – as our 8380A World Tour continues.
